Malaysian Aboriginals

Ever thought of Orang Asli or Malaysian Aboriginals? Until recently, I thought Orang Asli are bumiputras such as Kadazandusuns, Iban, Bajaus, Bidayuh, but not Malays. Sometimes, I even use the terms interchangeably. My mom always gave me a weird look when I talk about my 'Orang Asli' friends from university. When I went to Taman Negara a while back, I was cleared of my misconceptions. Orang Asli are not the ethnic groups from Sabah/Sarawak. They are Orang Asli, another ethnic group on its own. How come I never knew that? Either I have studied it in Sejarah but don't remember it (Hey, who else remembered the contents of Wawasas 2020 which I tried to etch it into my mind the night before SPM paper? I don't. None of it. Conclusion: No one remembers what is mentioned in sejarah textbook.) or it is not mentioned in our history syllabus. If it is the latter, I am really pissed off because as the first settlers of peninsula Malaysia, shouldn't they provide more we...

It's December!

Stating the obvious is one way to start a blog post (as per my opinion). Of course, if it is unacceptable, please tell me. Maybe a philosophical quote would be better, preferably in Latin (Do you know Germans get to learn Latin as a second language? So cool! A German couple told us when my family were in Taman Negara). Or maybe to you, the sentence ‘It’s December!’ is worth deciphering from the philosophical point of view. Let me just tell you: There is none. I really am just stating the obvious because I have no idea what to write as the title (as always). So why am I here again? One is because I just went to a happy place! And happy events are always worth blogging down. Oh ok ok, I am also happy during the other times I am not blogging too. So what other reason made me want to blog today? Well, long story short: My lecturer said my English is not up to standard. Yup. Personally I think my English is not too bad (Definitely better than the Malaysian population). But who knows ri...

2nd-post-of-the-year Update

Hi all! You must have thought that I've gone off the blogging world and you are ALL WRONG! - - - - - Actually well you are right. I am not blogging per se now. I'm hiding in an obscure corner of the Tumblr world now, using it like Instagram (posting random photos of what I find interesting, what I eat, and random stuff). Why not Instagram, you ask? Because Instagram barred me from using it. The story goes like this: Once upon a time, 3 years ago (plus minus) I heard about this app called Instagram so I decided to download it on my dad's iPhone. I registered, signed in, didn't know what all the hype is all about (since none of my friends were using it then) and then proceeded to write an e-mail to Instagram, telling them I would like to deregister my account from Instagram. And they did =D - - - And last year when EVERYONE is switching from posting photos from Facebook to Instagram, I thought, oh let's create another Instagram account! When I did, they ...

Attitude Problem

Hello dear all! It's 2013 and the end of my first semester of 3rd year =O Time flies by so fast O.O I don't know whether is it I've became bitter with life, or it's just a normal process of aging but I seem to find a lot of things to complain recently XD But to my defense, people keep agitating me. Well, not many people but the specific people that I meet every morning when I go to university every morning and the people I meet during the evenings when I have dinner. If you start your day bad and end your day bad, safe assured that you'll feel agitated the whole day. So the award of MOST BAD-DAY INDUCING PEOPLE in my life (and certainly to a majority of people who stay in my college): THE BUS DRIVERS, So this is how the ideal bus driver should be: Smile, polite, uniformed (this guy appears to be wearing shorts but let's just close one eye, open one eye haha). But being in Malaysia, our standard for all forms of service and product is greatly l...

What I Learnt From Driving Today

Driving in SUPER. DUPER. HEAVY. RAIN is not fun. Not fun at all. What makes it even more 'fun'? =D Drivers that don't signal before they change lane in the rain. Drivers that don't turn on their headlights in the rain. JAM!!! Motorcycles that weave in and out of traffic. An annoyance in normal traffic. A heart attack during the rain. Deciding to take a detour and end up in another road that's even more jam. Taking for granted of the perfect visibility during a sunny day and in 200m visibility, being unable to see the Touch 'n' Go lane and went to the wrong lane. Trying to get back the Touch 'n' Go lane and got caught in another jam for 30 minutes =D Pressure sore was developing on my butt by the time I got home grr. But never mind I'm home now and now the rain is a comfort rather than an annoyance =D

*writer's block*

Not that I write much in the first place but the occasional few times I have some inspiration to write a blog post, 3-4 times since my super long ago last blog post, the worlds just don't come out. The idea is there in my head but somehow I just can't translate what I have in my mind to words on my laptop screen. Occasionally words do flow but when I re-read it, I'll either deem it too sucky or too personal and delete the whole blog post =P So... Yea. See ya next time! XD

Another trip to Melaka

See this green puff? It's a baby rambutan! I bet most of you know that already but... I don't O.O They remind me of my dear baby hamsters (6 of 'em puff balls) before the EVIL NEIGHBOURHOOD CAT pushed down the hamster cage and annihilated all my living puff balls/hamsters.  Anyway, the point of this post is... I went to Melaka (Malacca) the last weekend with my family. And ate non stop.  Nasi Lemak served with Kangkung. My dad says it's a Hokkien thing... Serving Nasi Lemak with plain kangkung. True? Nyonya Laksa! From Bess Kopitiam, as recommended by my friend. Nyonya laksa is always awesome. But  it isn't sour enough for our liking =S So, so far the best nyonya laksa I've tasted is at Jonker88 (Sure there are more awesome laksa elsewhere but a 2 day tour at Melaka just isn't enough to savour them >.<) Finally made our way to the hotel =) I'm not one who can describe hotel rooms properly. So I'll l...
